Job Description
Senior Fullstack Engineer building scalable APIs, distributed systems, and AI workflows for Postscript’s Shopify messaging platform. Driving reliable, data-intensive infrastructure for e-commerce revenue growth.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of systems and product areas and become the go-to technical expert
- Investigate, design, and execute solutions across distributed systems
- Architect, build, and maintain highly available, scalable REST APIs and backend services
- Drive system decoupling, modularization, and technical debt reduction
- Build agentically using concurrent autonomous agent workflows and own the output
- Stay current with emerging AI tooling and practices and share techniques with the team
- Help shape how AI is integrated into engineering systems and workflows
- Collaborate with product, data, and go-to-market teams in an async-first environment
- Identify and eliminate single points of failure and improve system resilience and knowledge redundancy
- Improve engineering workflows through better tools and internal utilities
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience building large-scale data-intensive backend systems and APIs
- Active, daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent
- Proficiency in some or all of Python, Go, Rust, React, and TypeScript
- Close following of AI tooling landscape, model releases, agentic workflows, and best practices
- Ability to critically evaluate AI output, identify risks, and verify results
- Ability to context switch quickly across concurrent workstreams
- Experience with 0-to-1 initiatives and complex existing systems
- Working knowledge of event-driven distributed systems and Kafka
- Familiarity with distributed data processing technologies such as Flink or Spark
- Experience growing systems under production customer load, ideally to multi-terabyte scale
- Experience designing high-scale systems on AWS with RDBMS, OLAP, NoSQL, and other database technologies
- Knowledge of relational data modeling, index strategies, and performant SQL for transactional and analytical workloads
- Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform
- Familiarity building and observing applications on AWS and Kubernetes, ideally with Datadog, Signoz, or comparable observability tooling
- Clear, direct communication and proactive information sharing in cross-functional and async teams
- Strong technical tradeoff judgment informed by engineering best practices and business priorities
