Job Description
Senior Java Developer building scalable Spring Boot services and Shopify integrations. Owning production systems, mentoring engineers, and shaping digital commerce technology.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs
- Own code through development, deployment, and maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve production issues
- Challenge business requirements to deliver the best outcomes
- Drive adoption of new technologies and contribute to the technology roadmap
- Mentor the team
- Conduct technical interviews
- Provide occasional national or international travel as required (0–15%, depending on project needs)
Requirements:
- Solid experience as a Senior Java Developer (Java 17+/21) on complex, production-grade backend systems
- Proven hands-on experience running, maintaining and troubleshooting Shopify integrations in production
- Strong experience with Spring Boot 3.x, building and maintaining scalable services and APIs
- Solid experience designing, developing and maintaining GraphQL APIs
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Must be based in Portugal
- Experience with AWS DynamoDB and AWS secrets management solutions (e.g., Secrets Manager)
- Experience with Apache Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies in asynchronous, event-driven architectures
- Experience with OpenTelemetry and observability practices (monitoring and distributed tracing)
- Experience mentoring engineers and taking part in technical hiring
