Job Description

Senior Payroll Associate managing US payroll operations for life sciences strategy consulting firm. Ensuring compliance, reconciliations, benefits administration, audits, and process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance and governance of US employee payroll data within HRIS and payroll systems
  • Partner with Finance and HR to review, validate, and document complex payment adjustments and maintain audit-ready records
  • Oversee payroll components of onboarding and offboarding, including initial setup and final pay calculations
  • Coordinate payroll implications of immigration status changes with HR, Legal, and external partners
  • Review and audit payroll input data for bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
  • Independently process end-to-end bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls, including validations, reconciliations, funding, and GL postings
  • Escalate and resolve complex payroll issues
  • Oversee completion and tracking of I-9 verifications
  • Support and reconcile payroll-related benefits activity
  • Serve as point of contact for payroll-related audit requests
  • Identify and implement payroll process improvements and document standard operating procedures
  • Perform additional duties supporting payroll, benefits, HR operations, cross-functional projects, and system enhancements

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably supporting US payroll from a global or shared services environment
  • Demonstrated experience with US payroll regulations, taxes, and compliance; multi-state experience a plus
  • Experience working with integrated HRIS and payroll systems; UKG proficiency strongly preferred
  • Ability to own and prioritize multiple payroll cycles and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to explain payroll concepts to non-experts
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, and external vendors
