Job Description
Senior engineer shaping GE Vernova gas turbine and thermal power solutions for Americas customers. Guiding early data center and power plant architecture, value trades, and proposal readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary early-stage technical interface for assigned opportunities across the Americas before firm proposal
- Lead technical engagement with customers, developers, EPCs, utilities, IPPs, and strategic partners
- Define and recommend optimal technical solutions and positioning strategies with a bias toward standard, executable offerings
- Shape opportunities by clarifying configuration, scope boundaries, customer requirements, and technical/commercial risks
- Identify alignment with standard product offerings and communicate risks from deviations
- Support discussions on power plant architecture and value trades, including cycle selection, gas turbine pathways, phased buildout, redundancy, efficiency, speed-to-power, emissions, permitting, footprint, black start, islanding, and grid interface
- Engage in data center power generation discussions covering onsite generation, architecture tradeoffs, schedule certainty, load growth, resilience, efficiency, and standardization
- Use plant performance and thermodynamic modeling tools to evaluate thermal power configurations including simple cycle, combined cycle, CHP, and CCS
- Conduct or coordinate configuration optimization and high-level lifecycle/economic value assessments
- Collaborate with Sales, Product Line, Value Solutions Leaders, Application Engineering, and other functions
- Coordinate with adjacent technical teams, including aeroderivative specialists
- Provide technical content and support for customer presentations, workshops, and strategy discussions
- Respond to pre-RFP technical information requests concerning permitting, emissions, interconnection, and preliminary design basis
- Communicate opportunity background, recommended configuration, assumptions, risks, customer expectations, and approvals to proposal and execution teams
- Gather market intelligence, competitor insights, and customer feedback
- Provide voice-of-customer and market feedback to engineering, product, and commercial teams
- Support Lean operating culture by reducing rework, improving early clarity, and strengthening standard work
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Significant experience in thermal power generation, gas turbine applications, power plant engineering, project development, proposal engineering, commercial operations, or customer application engineering
- Technical and/or commercial experience with heavy-duty gas turbines
- Experience with combined cycle or simple cycle plant configuration
- Experience with steam turbine / generator / HRSG integration
- Experience with thermal plant development and evaluation
- Experience with data center development, architecture, behind-the-meter power, infrastructure & economics
- Experience engaging customers or commercial teams in technical discussions influencing project direction, equipment selection, or plant architecture
- Ability to evaluate technical requirements, customer objectives, and business constraints and convert them into practical solution recommendations
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the Americas, approximately 20% or as required by business needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong knowledge of GE Vernova Gas Power products, plant configurations, and the broader power generation value chain
- Strong grasp of power plant thermodynamics, plant performance analysis, and technical configuration tradeoffs
- Experience with economic evaluation, lifecycle cost analysis, and customer value-based technical positioning
- Ability to connect technical architecture decisions to schedule, risk, cost, and long-term asset value
- Familiarity with data center power generation opportunity development and related architecture tradeoffs
- Ability to assess and explain value trades in early-stage power generation decisions
- Strong systems thinking and analytical problem-solving capability
- Strong understanding of market trends, competitor positioning, and evolving customer needs
- Ability to work effectively across regional and global teams in a highly matrixed environment
- Lean mindset focused on clarity, standardization, flow, and reducing non-value-added work
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
