Job Description
Senior reimbursement analyst managing healthcare net revenue, reserves, budgets, and reconciliations for West Virginia University Health System. Supporting hospitals, payers, and finance leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex net revenue analysis and reimbursement activities for assigned hospitals and payers
- Support month-end close, annual budget preparation, contractual and third-party reserve analysis, journal-entry preparation, and net revenue reconciliation
- Provide advanced analytical and technical support for departmental net revenue reimbursement activities
- Serve as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert for reimbursement analysts, specialty groups, committees, stakeholders, and the Revenue Cycle Analytics application
- Collaborate with reimbursement, accounting, revenue cycle, operational stakeholders, and site accountants to analyze and resolve reimbursement issues
- Prepare annual net revenue reimbursement budget models and explain significant assumptions or variances
- Apply reimbursement knowledge involving IME, GME, DSH, RHC, bad debt, medical education, and supplemental payment programs
- Analyze monthly contractual reserve estimates and prepare journal entries
- Provide peer training, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer
- Lead or contribute expertise to process-improvement initiatives, system implementations, committee work, and cross-functional projects
- Reconcile daily Epic accounts receivable, transaction, and charge files and resolve system data variances
- Review and update application settings for reserve calculations
- Perform complex variance, trend, and root-cause analyses and present findings to reimbursement and finance leadership
- Develop and improve analytical models, reconciliations, procedures, and internal controls
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- Four (4) years of work experience in finance or accounting
- Advanced analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data validation, and analysis of large datasets
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, net revenue methodologies, contractual allowances, third-party reserves, and accounts-receivable valuation
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written, and electronic methods
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with keyboarding, data entry, and use of standard office equipment
- CPA Certification preferred
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred
- Two (2) years experience performing healthcare net revenue calculations, contractual reserve analysis, reimbursement budgeting, or month-end close activities preferred
