Job Description

Senior Software Engineer building Worth’s third-party integrations, APIs, and SDKs. Operating resilient Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, and Kubernetes systems for SMB data decisioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the design and implementation of major integrations and subsystems from partner evaluation through production rollout and ongoing operation
  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party data providers across KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud, banking, and identity
  • Abstract third-party providers behind clean, versioned internal contracts
  • Design, evolve, and operate Worth’s public REST APIs and SDKs, including versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, rate limiting, and developer experience
  • Translate ambiguous partner specifications, customer integration requirements, and vendor edge cases into clear technical designs
  • Write production code across backend and, when needed, frontend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, Nest.js, and React.js
  • Design and evolve PostgreSQL schemas for vendor responses, normalization layers, and crosswalking metadata
  • Build event-driven workflows with Kafka and Redis for enrichment, retries, dead-lettering, and backpressure
  • Optimize slow queries and resolve performance bottlenecks in high-throughput integration pipelines
  • Deploy, monitor, and debug containerized integration services in Kubernetes
  • Create alerting and runbooks to identify vendor degradations before customers do
  • Refactor legacy integration code into modular, testable, swappable adapters
  • Handle production incidents involving vendor outages, schema changes, authentication rotations, and quota exhaustion
  • Lead code reviews and coach engineers on integration patterns, resilience, testing strategy, and API design
  • Communicate technical tradeoffs across engineering, product, partnerships, and customer-facing teams
  • Deliver reliable vendor and customer integrations with clear rollout, monitoring, and rollback plans
  • Improve integration performance, reliability, API consistency, code maintainability, and squad delivery velocity

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ownership of major features or subsystems in production, ideally with significant integration or platform-API surface area
  • Deep expertise in the Node.js and TypeScript ecosystem
  • Strong system design skills, especially around resilient integrations: retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, rate limiting, webhook handling, and graceful degradation
  • Experience designing or operating a public API or SDK, including versioning, authentication, contracts, and developer ergonomics
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
  • Experience building or maintaining event-driven systems using Kafka
  • Comfort operating containerized applications in Kubernetes
  • Proven ability to refactor complex or legacy integration code into modular, swappable, well-tested adapters
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers and raising team quality standards
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments, including incomplete, contradictory, or changing partner specifications
  • Bonus: direct experience integrating with KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud, banking, or identity data providers
  • Bonus: experience building and shipping a public SDK
  • Bonus: experience with AWS services including MSK, RDS, EKS, S3, and Lambda
  • Bonus: experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Bonus: strong background in distributed caching strategies using Redis
  • Bonus: experience with Redshift schema design and ETL pipelines
  • Bonus: production experience with Python in backend systems
  • Bonus: background in fintech, payments, lending, or regulated data environments
