Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building and scaling product features at Chalkboard for sports gaming. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance user experience and system performance.
Responsibilities:
- Build and scale product features and backend services that power core user experiences
- Contribute to system architecture with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
- Write high-quality, maintainable code and uphold strong engineering standards
- Partner with Product and Design to deliver impactful features from concept to production
- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and delivery
- Identify gaps in systems, processes, and code quality—and proactively address them
- Improve system performance, observability, and reliability
- Collaborate closely with engineers across pods to ship cohesive solutions
- Take ownership of projects and drive them through completion
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- ~5–8 years of software engineering experience
- Strong full-stack experience (Node.js, React, React Native preferred)
- Solid understanding of system design, databases, and scalable architectures
- Experience working with modern data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP)
- Proven ability to deliver and maintain production systems
- Experience working in fast-paced, startup environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
