Job Description

Infrastructure Engineer building cloud-native developer tooling and reliable backend services at Palo Alto Networks. Enabling engineering teams to deliver observability for major technology companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain high-scale developer tooling and backend services across a distributed cloud environment
  • Own the end-to-end development lifecycle, including local development tools, CI/CD, dynamic testing environments, deployments, and releases
  • Build an infrastructure platform enabling engineering teams to deliver observability for large technology companies
  • Define, deploy, and manage reproducible, version-controlled environments using Terraform
  • Identify and eliminate systemic software development lifecycle bottlenecks through architectural changes and advanced tooling
  • Optimize infrastructure for resilience under massive traffic loads, performance, cost efficiency, and near-real-time telemetry processing
  • Define platform standards and reference architectures over a 1–3 year horizon
  • Consult across teams on infrastructure best practices
  • Mentor engineers and improve organizational technical capabilities

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Go, Java, Python, or Rust
  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS or GCP
  • Kubernetes and container-level logic knowledge
  • Deep knowledge of Linux internals, process management, and resource isolation
  • Understanding of the OSI model, service meshes, load balancing, and zero-trust security architectures
  • Experience building and debugging distributed systems involving CAP theorem trade-offs, eventual consistency, and distributed tracing
  • Reliable task completion and work estimation within a sprint
  • Ability to debug code using logs and tests and identify design edge cases
  • Strong communication skills for code reviews and design discussions
  • Proactive willingness to learn new tools, processes, and libraries
  • Experience or interest in AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude
