Job Description
Social Media Manager advancing ACE Scholarships’ K-12 school-choice mission through organizational channels. Building the CEO’s thought-leadership presence and driving engagement, donations and advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage and optimize a comprehensive weekly/monthly content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, campaigns, events and timely education news
- Create high-quality, original content including posts, captions, threads, video scripts and graphics briefs
- Manage and grow ACE’s organizational accounts on X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn
- Build and manage the CEO’s professional social presence, primarily on LinkedIn and X
- Draft thought-leadership posts, video messages and interview recaps; coordinate ghostwriting and approval processes
- Attend key events alongside the CEO and provide real-time social media coverage
- Ghostwrite and post live updates, threads, stories, captions, videos and highlights on behalf of the CEO
- Coordinate with organizational partners on aligned campaign messaging across channels
- Monitor channels daily, respond promptly and engage with the community, including evenings/weekends during peak periods or events
- Develop and execute social media plans for major events, including live coverage, real-time posting, post-event amplification and reporting
- Schedule and publish content using social management tools
- Coordinate with organizational partners, state teams, development, scholarship programs and external PR/communications vendors
- Track performance metrics, analyze insights and deliver regular reports and recommendations to leadership on engagement, growth and ROI
- Ensure content complies with nonprofit best practices, brand guidelines and platform policies
- Travel periodically to accompany the CEO at key events and speaking engagements and capture content/post in real time
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive social media management experience, preferably in nonprofit, education, advocacy or political/issue-based organizations
- Strong journalistic or professional writing background with a proven portfolio of compelling, story-driven content; writing samples or portfolio required
- Demonstrated success managing X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn and growing audiences organically
- Strong alignment with ACE’s mission, values and founding principles
- Experience building and managing executive/CEO thought-leadership channels
- Experience managing multiple channels and content development and output during live events
- Excellent project management skills and ability to own strategy while executing at high volume at a manager level
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, English, Marketing or another related field
- Technical aptitude and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, Sprout and MarTech project management platforms
- Experience with video content creation/editing and YouTube channel management preferred but not required
- Knowledge of education policy and current events in the K-12 space preferred but not required
- Experience working in a national or multi-state organization preferred but not required
- Ability to travel 25–33% throughout the year
- Comfort working within conservative or religious partner environments
- Strong strategic thinking, hands-on execution, collaboration, emotional intelligence, professionalism, adaptability and comfort with ambiguity
