Job Description

Solution Architect designing secure, scalable enterprise systems for Canada’s largest credit union. Translating business objectives into technology solutions and guiding delivery across platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and select appropriate technologies and platforms
  • Design solution architecture, including software, hardware, and networking components
  • Guide development teams throughout the project lifecycle and ensure best practices and standards are followed
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet technical and business expectations
  • Promote and support peer review of team deliverables
  • Develop consistent, effective documentation adhering to team standards and templates
  • Review existing systems and develop strategies to improve or further leverage them
  • Share knowledge with IS members to support adoption of standards and best practices
  • Develop proofs of concept to demonstrate feasibility of proposed products, methods, or ideas
  • Maintain awareness of technology inventory assets, identify adaptation and reuse opportunities, research market trends, and make build-versus-buy-versus-repurpose decisions
  • Bridge business challenges and technology solutions across the enterprise architecture team
  • Improve cost efficiency, future-proof systems, project outcomes, security, and compliance

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of continuous IT experience
  • Minimum five years of experience serving as an architect within a specific IT architecture domain
  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline
  • TOGAF certification or functional proficiency with a similar methodology or framework is required
  • Experience leading diverse projects addressing business and IT challenges
  • Modeling experience using common solution description languages, standards, tools, and visual aids
  • Formal IT methodology practitioner and project management methodology participant
  • Proven experience designing complex solutions across varied platforms through implementation and operations
  • Expertise in architecture best practices, architecture development methodologies, domain-specific modeling techniques, and solution documentation
  • Software application development experience using Agile or Waterfall SDLC approaches and specification-level writing
  • Systems integration experience in a Service-Oriented Architecture environment using an Enterprise Service Bus and API-based messaging standards
  • Experience with COTS solutions and custom applications
  • Ability to use code repositories such as GitHub, TFS, or Azure DevOps
  • Ability to work within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Ability to work in a Test Driven Development environment
  • Experience with Ovation, Salesforce, OutSystems, Boomi, Databricks, Visual Studio, C#, ASP.Net, ASP.Net Core, jQuery, Power Platform, or Cloud Architecture is an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple competing projects, time, schedule, and scope
  • Timely communication and appropriate escalation of issues
  • Selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check, reference check, and credit check
