Job Description
Solutions Architect bridging federal cloud proposal writing and hands-on prototyping at GDIT, a government technology services company. Designing compliant architectures, POCs, and reusable technical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior technical voice for federal customers, teaming partners, and cloud provider field teams
- Maintain fluency in FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, RMF/ATO, and federal Zero Trust requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with AWS, Microsoft, and Google public sector partner teams
- Lead or contribute technical cloud architecture content for RFP, RFI, RFQ, and sources-sought responses
- Develop technical volumes, architecture diagrams, transition plans, and management approach sections
- Translate agency requirements into defensible technical solutions with clear discriminators
- Develop basis-of-estimate inputs, level-of-effort assumptions, and cloud cost models
- Participate in Pink, Red, and Gold Team reviews and incorporate feedback
- Support oral presentations and technical Q&A with agency evaluators
- Build reusable reference architectures, technical case studies, solution modules, and past-performance assets
- Scope, build, and demonstrate working proofs of concept and pilots in federal cloud environments
- Stand up infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and data or AI/ML pipelines
- Run technical discovery sessions and whiteboard workshops with client architects and agency leadership
- Evaluate prototypes for security, data protection, cost, and operational suitability
- Document POC outcomes for follow-on proposals or task orders
- Hand off successful prototypes to delivery teams with architecture documentation, runbooks, and clean IaC repositories
- Own solutions end to end as a senior individual contributor without direct reports
- Travel approximately 10%, including visiting Falls Church, Virginia, as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent hands-on experience
- 15+ years in cloud architecture, engineering, or technical presales
- 3+ years supporting federal government customers or federal contracts
- Deep hands-on experience in AWS or Azure, including federal regions
- Direct experience contributing technical content to federal proposals and writing to evaluation factors
- Practical skill with infrastructure as code, including Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or equivalent
- Experience with containers and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tooling
- Experience with Python
- Working knowledge of FedRAMP and the ATO process
- Strong technical writing
- Good communication skills and comfort interacting with all levels of staff, business owners, and customers
- Work visa sponsorship will not be considered
- Preferred: professional-level cloud certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect
- Preferred: security certification such as CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent
- Preferred: Google Cloud experience, particularly Assured Workloads or other federal-eligible configurations
- Preferred: hands-on experience designing or prototyping modern data, AI/ML, or Generative AI solutions
- Preferred: experience with federal contract vehicles and task-order competitions
- Preferred: familiarity with Shipley or comparable capture and proposal methodology
- Preferred: prior experience at a systems integrator or cloud provider public sector organization
- Preferred: strong backend skills in Node/TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, or C#, and REST APIs
