Job Description
Staff Systems Engineer leading The Home Depot’s infrastructure engineering and DB2 for z/OS operations remotely in Georgia. Designing, supporting, and automating enterprise systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers designing, building, and supporting The Home Depot’s technical infrastructure of hardware and system software.
- Create, deploy, and support production infrastructure.
- Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code elements, architectural diagrams, and related documentation.
- Participate in selecting and lead implementation of physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Lead configuration, debugging, support, rollouts, and deployment of technology solutions.
- Stand up system software, hardware, and equipment to meet changing infrastructure needs.
- Create and optimize technology solution specifications.
- Produce and manage hardware and software purchase requests.
- Lead development of test suites for rapid infrastructure-as-code deployment.
- Monitor innovations, industry trends, and internal systems to maintain secure and operational systems.
- Research business trends and behavioral data to identify strategic opportunities.
- Lead evaluation and recommendation of strategic technology solutions.
- Research and design infrastructure, network, database, cloud, AI, and security architectures.
- Create and maintain infrastructure as code and AI models.
- Participate in strategic project planning and management across multiple efforts.
- Develop formal training courses.
- Collaborate with product and project teams to enable infrastructure solutions.
- Support technology architecture design reviews.
- Monitor and optimize applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, and security.
- Drive root-cause analysis, debugging, incident support, and post-mortem analysis.
- Maintain, upgrade, and support existing systems and infrastructure.
- Act as vendor liaison for resourcing, issue management, and documentation.
- Produce in-house solution documentation.
- Provide production application support.
- Mentor junior Systems Engineers.
- Convert knowledge-base articles into AI models and improve analytic performance models.
Requirements:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience.
- Experience with z/OS ISPF, JCL, and JES2.
- Experience with z/OS DB2 administration, DDL, DML, DCL, DB2 commands, and SQL.
- Experience with DB2 utilities including COPY, QUIESCE, REPAIR, REORG, and LOAD.
- Understanding of RACF Security Monitor instances, events, and resolutions/escalations.
- Ability to triage and troubleshoot database issues promptly.
- Experience with DB2 SQL and Q Replication.
- Ability to develop scripts to automate DB2 administration tasks.
- Knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Knowledge of the REXX development language.
- Broadcom Detector and Subsystem Analyzer experience.
- DB2 for z/OS version 12 or higher experience.
- DB2 performance-tuning expertise.
- Experience managing large tablespaces.
- Endevor experience.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
