Job Description
Student Information Systems Specialist administering PowerSchool for Ohio Virtual Academy, an online education provider. Maintaining student data integrity, reporting, integrations, and staff training across the district.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the district’s lead PowerSchool administrator, managing configuration, user accounts, security permissions, and system updates
- Troubleshoot PowerSchool issues and coordinate with vendors
- Customize PowerSchool settings, reports, and data fields to meet district needs
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of student information
- Prepare and submit required state and federal data collections, including EMIS or state-specific reporting
- Develop and maintain custom data reports, dashboards, and extracts for district leadership
- Conduct regular audits for FERPA and district data governance compliance
- Train and support counselors, teachers, administrators, and other school staff
- Create user guides, documentation, and training materials
- Analyze workflows and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with IT and instructional teams to integrate PowerSchool with third-party systems
- Monitor system performance and identify enhancement opportunities
- Liaise between departments and national teams regarding student data needs
- Communicate system updates, deadlines, and best practices
- Support district initiatives requiring student data analysis or system configuration
Requirements:
- Must reside in Ohio
- No certificates or licenses required
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with PowerSchool administration, data management, or reporting
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Education, Data Management, or a related field
- Strong understanding of student data systems, data privacy laws, and reporting requirements
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis tools, and report creation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to train non-technical users
- Experience in a K–12 school district environment desired
- Familiarity with state reporting systems such as EMIS or equivalent desired
- Experience with SQL, data imports/exports, or API integrations desired
- Knowledge of SchoolMessenger, Clever, or LMS platforms desired
