Job Description

Surgical Conversion Specialist at Medtronic managing inventory transitions from competitors to Medtronic technologies in hospitals. Provides clinical leadership to ensure adoption and compliance in surgical settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical guidance to surgeons and OR staff during live procedures, ensuring seamless adoption of Medtronic’s wound closure portfolio.
  • Act as the national SME for high-value technologies, including V-Loc™ Barbed Sutures, Conventional Suture and specialty conversion portfolios.
  • Lead comprehensive training for OR nurses, Surgical Technicians, and Residents on product codes, needle anatomy, and material science.
  • Orchestrate the physical removal of competitive inventory and the streamlined organization of Medtronic stock within OR cores and specialty carts.
  • Audit hospital usage to identify exact "product equivalents," mitigating clinical disruption during the transition.
  • Partner with local Surgical Account Managers (SAM) to ensure conversions hit volume targets and remain on schedule.
  • Serve as the "Lead Rep" in high-priority facilities or complex accounts requiring executive-level oversight.
  • Present clinical data and success metrics to hospital leadership to validate the financial and clinical move to Medtronic.
  • Provide elite-level coverage for territories in transition or vacancy to protect market share and maintain customer continuity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science, Nursing, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of sales or clinical experience in a hospital environment.
  • Ability to travel 75%+ within the US Region to support diverse hospital sites.
  • Demonstrated success in previous roles with a high level of sales performance and persuasion skills.
  • Understanding of hospital vendor/distributor workflows and supply chain management.
  • Ability to develop and deliver complex business reviews to C-Suite and Value Analysis stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in high-pressure environments and work independently or as a team lead.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate complex CRM/inventory databases.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
