Job Description
Accounting Specialist managing full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, audits, and automation for aerospace and defense company L3Harris. Supporting GAAP, lease accounting, internal controls, and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting activities across Cash, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Time and Labor, and Leases
- Evaluate financial data and perform analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Prepare financial reporting materials, including rollforwards, reporting schedules, and variance analyses
- Evaluate agreements, reports, and data to determine appropriate accounting treatment
- Communicate across functions to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures
- Improve processes and enhance performance through automation
- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees
- Explain and interpret accounting policies, procedures, and practices
- Support internal and external audit requests
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle
- Experience driving and leading special projects
- Experience with automation
- Proficiency in SAP, PeopleSoft, Costpoint, HFM, ARCS, and CoStar
- Strong foundation in accounting principles and GAAP
- Knowledge of internal controls and related regulations, including Sarbanes-Oxley
- Strong understanding of ASC 842 Lease Accounting and ASC 360 Property, Plant, and Equipment standards and requirements
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills
- CPA, CFA, CPP, or CMA designation is a plus
- Experience with Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting
- Experience with external auditors and audit requirements for internal controls and government compliance, including SOX and DCAA
