Job Description

Therapeutic Area Lead in pharmaceutical industry responsible for medical leadership and execution of TA plans. Overseeing stakeholder engagement, managing teams, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the Country Medical Director, the Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) is responsible for the operational leadership and execution of medical activities within the assigned therapeutic area
  • Developing and overseeing the execution of country-level TA medical plans
  • Accountable for developing strategic engagement plans for key local stakeholders, including KOLs
  • Review and validate materials to guarantee scientific accuracy and compliance
  • Drive medical excellence within the therapeutic area and lead development and delivery of internal medical education programs
  • Manage and supervise office- and field-based teams, including Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and Medical Managers
  • Optimize resource allocation and performance management of medical associates
  • Collaborate with regional Medical Affairs colleagues and cross-functional teams
  • Maintain in-depth scientific knowledge and collect insights on disease landscape, patient journey, and unmet needs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong background in Medical Affairs; experience in the respective TA and in people management is highly preferred
  • In-depth expertise and understanding of disease landscape and treatment pathways
  • Well-developed planning and resource management skills
  • Experience in budget management
  • Strong commitment to compliance, scientific rigor and integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of local policy and regulatory requirements
  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Proven track record in leadership, including team management, coaching and capability development
  • Flexibility and resilience to navigate complexity and high-pressure situations
  • MD, Pharm D or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is mandatory.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, experienced with electronic CRM systems
  • Fluency in both verbal and written English necessary; any other major European language of advantage.
