Job Description

Business Analyst III improving Trellis student-loan operations through regulatory systems analysis. Leading technology projects, reporting, compliance, testing, and process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate process analysis and determine requirements to meet business needs
  • Develop conceptual process design specifications and support information needs
  • Support Trellis Operations and IT with application and software enhancements related to system design, screen formats, data entry functions, and account management
  • Develop reports and information sources to improve day-to-day workflows
  • Serve as liaison between Trellis Operations, IT, external business partners, and clients
  • Facilitate research, testing, and implementation of new or modified processes and products
  • Facilitate communication and training for affected business areas
  • Create and maintain process documentation and procedures for business applications and tools
  • Partner with stakeholders and IT to gather requirements, perform functional analysis, evaluate business needs, and recommend technology solutions
  • Analyze impacts of system, process, workflow, regulatory, and business changes; communicate findings and recommendations
  • Research, interpret, and implement regulatory and compliance changes
  • Administer business applications and web-based solutions, including access management, security monitoring, configuration, and performance oversight
  • Define, maintain, and monitor application controls, parameters, templates, correspondence documents, and configurations
  • Lead system testing, quality assurance, code migrations, and production implementations
  • Investigate system, data, and application issues; identify root causes and recommend resolutions
  • Develop and analyze operational, compliance, audit, statistical, performance, and ad hoc reports
  • Conduct system audits and support audit, legal, and regulatory requests
  • Coordinate cross-functional issue resolution, manage deliverables, and oversee projects and initiatives
  • Serve as system subject matter expert for Operations, IT, management, and business partners
  • Develop procedures, user guides, training materials, and system documentation; deliver training
  • Monitor internal and third-party systems, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions
  • Coach and mentor analysts and other team members
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology-enabled solutions
  • Maintain professional knowledge through continuous learning and development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; six (6) years of regulatory-based experience in a Business Analyst role may substitute for the degree
  • Six (6) years of Business Analyst experience in a regulatory-based environment
  • At least two (2) years of experience in analysis, development, and implementation of technology-related projects
  • Three (3) years serving in a project lead role
  • Six (6) months or more experience with SQL, reporting, data visualization, or similar analytical tools
  • Ability to gather and document business requirements and perform functional analysis
  • Experience administering business applications, managing user access, monitoring system security, conducting testing, and supporting code migrations
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of automated systems, data flows, interfaces, and reporting methodologies
  • Proficiency with SQL, Excel, Word, Visio, JIRA, Confluence, Miro, data visualization platforms, and other business analysis and reporting tools
  • Ability to interpret and apply FFELP regulations, federal and state laws, contract requirements, and company policies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and support onboarding and development of others
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Preferred: Master's degree
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of experience with FFEL Collections, Claims, or Default Prevention
  • Preferred: One (1) year of project management experience
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience using AI tools and technology in generating business requirements, test scripts, data analysis, etc.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours
