Job Description
Business Development Manager growing Japan partnerships for Headout, a global travel experience marketplace. Launching experiences, managing strategic accounts, and driving bookings through cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end growth of the Japan travel market
- Identify new opportunities through customer and market research
- Launch new experiences and cities
- Build deep partnerships with Japan's attraction and experience providers
- Bring new partners onto the platform and grow them after launch
- Build trusted, long-term strategic partnerships
- Work with Growth, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams to improve visibility and commercial performance
- Identify market opportunities, analyze performance, and translate insights into action
- Manage partnerships, pipelines, and commercial performance using CRM tools and data
- Collaborate with global colleagues across offices, cultures, and time zones
- Represent Headout in Japan
- Travel occasionally within Japan and internationally
Requirements:
- Full professional fluency in both Japanese and English
- 4–6 years of experience in business development, partnerships, account management, or commercial roles
- Industry exposure ideally within travel, marketplaces, SaaS, or consumer technology
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted, long-term client relationships and grow strategic partnerships
- Strong commercial acumen; ability to identify market opportunities, analyze performance, and translate insights into action
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; experience working cross-functionally and influencing diverse teams
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment with high ownership and autonomy
- Global mindset and enthusiasm for collaborating across cultures and time zones
- Experience using CRM tools and data to manage pipelines, partnerships, and commercial performance
- Based in Tokyo with flexibility for occasional domestic and international travel
