Job Description

Director of Construction leading commercial construction operations and project management teams in California. Ensuring project delivery is safe, on schedule, and within budget with executive collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project completion
  • Manage and mentor project managers, superintendents, and construction teams
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and operational performance across multiple projects
  • Establish project management standards, reporting structures, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on project strategy, resource allocation, and operational planning
  • Review contracts, scopes of work, and major project risks prior to execution
  • Support preconstruction activities including estimating reviews, bid strategy, and project planning
  • Monitor project financial performance including cost control, forecasting, and change management
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project partners
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial construction
  • 5+ years of experience in senior leadership roles such as Senior Project Manager, Construction Manager, or Director-level positions
  • Strong background managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously
  • Experience working for a general contractor or construction management firm
  • Proven ability to lead and develop project management teams
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, scheduling, and cost management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • **Preferred Experience**
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, or mixed-use construction projects
  • Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
