Job Description
Design Expert creating product-design and AI-assisted development evaluation tasks. Mercor partners with AI labs and enterprises to train frontier models using human expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Construct scenarios spanning rapid prototyping and iteration cycles, design system development, and cross-functional product-design-engineering collaboration
- Build tasks for AI-assisted application development, natural-language-to-code workflows, and rapid prototyping in the Vibecoding subdomain
- Build tasks for UX/UI design, design systems and component libraries, user research, and usability testing in the Design subdomain
- Develop scenarios involving AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, v0, and Replit
- Develop scenarios involving Figma, Framer, and design systems tooling
- Apply iterative prompt-driven development, human-centered design principles, and heuristic evaluation
- Produce reference prototypes, code artifacts, design specifications, and usability evaluation reports
- Author rubrics distinguishing authentic senior-level product judgment from generic tutorial-level or template-driven work
- Collaborate on projects that train and enhance AI systems
Requirements:
- 5+ years working as a product designer, design lead, or AI-native engineer/vibecoder
- Experience at a major product- or design-forward company or as a notable independent/startup product builder
- Direct ownership of product design systems or AI-assisted development workflows shipped to production
- Fluency in vibecoding or design tooling
- Understanding of user-centered design principles and rapid prototyping practices
- Portfolio of shipped work strongly preferred in place of a formal credential
- Prior rubric, training, or design critique authorship is a plus
- Must be able to work as an independent contractor
- Mercor is unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time
