Job Description

Director leading e-commerce merchandising, vendor negotiations, and partner performance for BBQGuys.com, an outdoor living retailer. Driving catalog revenue, margins, conversion, and team development.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue, gross margin, conversion, and overall catalog performance
  • Lead ecommerce merchandising across brand portfolios
  • Oversee Online Merchants, a Jr. Online Merchant, and the Vendor Relations function
  • Set brand performance expectations through weekly brand reviews, PDP health and Content Health audits, assortment decisions, and NPL content playbook ownership
  • Monitor catalog-wide sales and profitability; address underperforming brands and identify assortment expansion opportunities
  • Partner with Site Merchandising to improve brand pages, PLPs, PDPs, and shopping experience
  • Partner with Pricing and Promotions to optimize pricing, promotions, and margin capture
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, and Tech on campaign alignment, launch readiness, and site experience improvements
  • Own vendor relations and partner performance
  • Lead vendor program negotiations involving rebates, co-op growth, allowance structures, and distribution reliance
  • Build and manage vendor programs, including enrollment criteria, activation standards, and QBR cadence
  • Develop and deliver the BBQGuys value proposition to brand partners
  • Hold vendors accountable to MSA expectations, content standards, NPL timelines, promotional and pricing policies, and defective/warranty resolution standards
  • Own vendor performance scorecards and track compliance, program performance, and relationship health
  • Build a prospective brand target list using market intelligence, search demand, trade show intelligence, and supplier conversations
  • Surface competitor intelligence, category trends, brand share data, and emerging brand opportunities
  • Lead five direct reports and conduct performance reviews, development sessions, and growth conversations
  • Coach two Online Merchants in people leadership
  • Build a high-accountability, growth-oriented team culture
  • Present progress updates, performance results, and strategic recommendations to the Senior Director and Executive team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 4–6 years of experience in ecommerce, retail buying, category management, or vendor/partner management
  • 4–6 years leading a team
  • Experience in a Director-level or senior individual contributor role with commercial accountability
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to prioritize and handle several high-impact assignments simultaneously
  • Cultural inclination toward transparency, accountability, sense of urgency, and growth mindset
  • Good judgement and wisdom in negotiations and communication with external parties
  • Strong grasp of business fundamentals such as conversion rate optimization and P&L management
  • Expert knowledge with e-commerce metrics such as conversion rate and marketing fundamentals
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel, PowerBI, Adobe Analytics, Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn internal programs
  • Excellent analytical skills, including defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing conclusions, and providing solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and cooperative team-player ability
  • Ability to read and write in English
