Job Description

Director of Product leading strategy and execution for accounting platform at Buyers Edge Platform. Ensuring a unified, data-driven system for restaurant operations and financial clarity.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the product strategy for BEP’s Back Office platform with accounting capabilities as the core foundation.
  • Establish a cohesive vision that integrates financial workflows with key operational modules (inventory, menu engineering, cost controls).
  • Align product direction with organizational priorities, customer needs, and market opportunities to drive high product adoption and enterprise-level retention.
  • Lead the development of core accounting modules, including GL, AP/AR, bank reconciliation, reporting, and audit controls.
  • Ensure the accounting system is robust, compliant, scalable, and intuitive for both operators and accountants.
  • Collaborate with finance and compliance teams to maintain alignment with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee product strategy for inventory, food cost management, menu engineering, recipe costing, and theoretical vs actual cost tracking.
  • Integrate these modules seamlessly with the accounting system to create a unified back-office ecosystem.
  • Develop a strategic integration roadmap with payroll, restaurant management, and cost-control platforms, enabling real-time or scheduled data synchronization for invoices, sales, payroll summaries, and inventory usage.
  • Partner across Engineering, Partnerships, and Customer Success to deliver reliable, scalable, easy-to-adopt integrations.
  • Leverage integrations to expand platform value, drive adoption, and unlock new revenue opportunities.
  • Develop and manage a multi-year roadmap with accounting as the strategic anchor supported by operational modules.
  • Use market research, analytics, and customer insights to prioritize features and enhancements.
  • Partner with engineering and design to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions.
  • Build and lead a high-performing product team with expertise in accounting, restaurant operations, and SaaS technologies.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer-centric thinking.
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Customer Success to launch products effectively.
  • Support GTM strategy, pricing, packaging, and positioning for accounting and operations products.
  • Conduct ongoing discovery with accountants, controllers, operators, and finance teams to deeply understand workflows.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor solutions, and regulatory changes to stay ahead of market needs.
  • Drive adoption and expansion of the Back Office platform with a strong focus on accounting value propositions.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities tied to accounting and operational modules.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of Product Management experience, with significant experience developing accounting or financial software.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial workflows, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in restaurant or retail back-office operations strongly preferred.
  • Proven success defining product strategy and leading cross-functional SaaS initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical leader with a data-driven approach: experience with analytics tools (e.g., Pendo) is a plus.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, computer science, or related field; CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the foodservice/restaurant industry is a strong advantage.
