Job Description
Energy Storage Manager overseeing development and procurement of BESS projects at Madison Energy Infrastructure. Bridging technical specifications with commercial and revenue needs in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead BESS technical specifications (battery modules, inverters/PCS, EMS/SCADA, transformers, and BOS components), evaluate vendor proposals for performance compliance and safety standards, and define acceptance testing criteria (FAT/SAT, commissioning).
- Partner with the commercial team to translate revenue-driven requirements (capacity markets, ancillary services, demand response, tolling) into technical and contractual specifications, and support financial model inputs on equipment costs, degradation, and augmentation.
- Own end-to-end procurement strategy for BESS equipment and integrator services—including RFP development, bid leveling, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiation and execution across ESAs, MSAs, LTSAs, warranty agreements, and EPC scopes.
- Negotiate key contract terms including pricing, delivery timelines, liquidated damages, warranty coverage, FEOC compliance, performance guarantees, and LTSAs, while identifying and resolving technical-commercial risks early in the project lifecycle.
- Serve as Madison’s technical-commercial point of contact with customers, utilities, EPC partners, and OEMs, communicating complex topics clearly to non-technical audiences and representing the company in external negotiations and diligence sessions.
- Collaborate across Development, Finance, Legal, and Construction to keep projects contract-ready and execution-ready, and support investor and lender diligence with technical-commercial documentation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in battery energy storage, renewable energy procurement, or power infrastructure.
- Demonstrated track record of negotiating and executing BESS procurement contracts (equipment + services).
- Strong knowledge of:
- BESS system architecture
- OEM/integrator market landscape
- Warranties, LTSA structures, degradation, augmentation

- Strong grasp of commercial and revenue-driven storage terms and the ability to translate technical details into financial and commercial impacts.

- Structured problem-solver with strong documentation habits—you close loops, communicate clearly, and operate with accountability in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfortable with approximately 25% travel to project and client sites.
Benefits:
- PTO and company holidays
- Medical, dental, vision
- Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance
- 401(k) and company match
