Job Description

Environmental Project Manager leading wastewater, process water, and solid waste projects for Georgia-Pacific manufacturing facilities. Managing project teams, vendors, construction, and operational startup across the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic environmental projects and consult on environmental/civil structural projects across the country
  • Engage business and environmental platform leadership to identify and prioritize high-value environmental projects
  • Maintain knowledge of environmental best practices, regulations, and technologies for industrial wastewater, process water, and solid waste
  • Evaluate environmental project alternatives and technologies
  • Select equipment and vendor partners
  • Identify effective contracting strategies
  • Organize, coach, and lead project teams from conceptualization through operational startup
  • Use the Georgia-Pacific Business Process for Projects work process
  • Provide field support during project management, construction, and startup phases
  • Support facilities across the continental United States, focusing on the Southeast and Northwest regions
  • Deliver project goals meeting or exceeding environmental standards, schedule, cost, and performance requirements
  • Develop knowledge and application of Principle Based Management
  • Provide subject matter expertise to facilities across the organization
  • Collaborate with Georgia-Pacific manufacturing facilities and project and engineering professionals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent experience
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in project management within Manufacturing or another industrial environment, or 2+ years of experience in Environmental Compliance
  • Experience working in cross functioning teams
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Preferred: Five (5) or more years of project management or construction management experience in a process manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience in design, construction, or operation of wastewater treatment systems, water treatment plants, or solid waste management facilities
  • Experience with phased project processes, methodologies, schedules, and deliverables
  • Experience developing proposals, reports, and presentations
  • Experience building project teams using internal and external resources
  • Industry experience within pulp, paper, and building products
  • Experience with project management software such as EcoSys, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or SAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project
  • Ability to work in the United States; employer uses E-Verify
