Job Description
Field Application Specialist supporting Beckman Coulter’s flow cytometry and hematology solutions for African laboratories. Training customers, optimizing workflows, and troubleshooting applications across the region.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and application support to existing and prospective customers on flow cytometry analyzers, reagents and software used in clinical research and routine diagnostics.
- Deliver instrument and reagent demonstrations, customer training and workflow assessments.
- Support customers with sample preparation, instrument operation and data analysis.
- Work closely with sales colleagues to understand customer needs, demonstrate solution value and support business growth.
- Help customers implement new applications and collaborate with service colleagues to troubleshoot application and performance issues.
- Support and develop channel partners through application guidance, product demonstrations and technical training across African countries.
- Represent Beckman Coulter Life Sciences at exhibitions, scientific meetings and workshops.
- Share customer feedback and market insights with internal teams to strengthen customer support and identify improvement opportunities.
Requirements:
- A university degree in biology, biomedical sciences, medical laboratory sciences, medicine, chemistry, physics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional training.
- Several years of practical experience in flow cytometry and/or hematology, gained in a laboratory, clinical, research or application support environment.
- For candidates with flow cytometry experience, practical knowledge of multicolor flow cytometry, sample preparation and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory workflows, analyzer operation, troubleshooting and interpretation of laboratory results for candidates primarily experienced in hematology.
- Experience in immunology, customer training or technical application support would be an advantage.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly to different audiences.
- A collaborative, customer-focused approach and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Based in Johannesburg or Centurion, South Africa, with convenient access to an international airport.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% of the time.
- A valid category B driver’s license.
