Job Description

Field Service Technician repairing and servicing injection molding machines and robots for ENGEL, a global plastics processing machinery manufacturer. Training customers and resolving equipment issues at customer sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair injection molding machines and robots
  • Conduct tests and inspections on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and software components
  • Perform calibrations to optimize equipment performance
  • Perform software and hardware installations
  • Perform safety checks on equipment
  • Educate customers on equipment and instruct them on proper operation
  • Manage customer issue resolution, including ordering and installing replacement parts
  • Diagnose control-system problems and develop organized approaches to machine repairs
  • Instruct Service Technicians and customer operators on maintenance and safe operation of injection molding systems
  • Communicate with Central Service, Manufacturing, and Parts Center to resolve field problems
  • Provide regular written reports to the Service Manager
  • Work remotely at customer sites installing and servicing equipment while providing customer training and support

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years in injection molding troubleshooting or processing, or prior experience as a Field Service Injection Molding Technician/Service Engineer
  • Knowledge of blueprints and schematics for troubleshooting electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with injection molding machines
  • Well-rounded electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and computer skills
  • Ability to provide basic training for customers and employees
  • Knowledge and understanding of the injection molding process
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems systematically
  • Knowledge of microprocessor programming
  • Knowledge of PET, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Styrene, and other common materials
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to handle difficult or unhappy customers with tact and diplomacy
  • Dedicated team player with a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with ENGEL machines and robots preferred
  • Ability to use internal resources efficiently to resolve customer issues
  • Ability to work independently with minimal back-office support
  • Valid passport required
  • Driver’s license in good standing that includes REAL-ID required
