Job Description
Entry-level Health Information Specialist processing patient medical records and ROI requests for Datavant’s healthcare data platform. Ensuring HIPAA compliance, accuracy, privacy, and timely customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Process requests for patient health information and medical record releases accurately and efficiently
- Safeguard patient privacy and ensure compliance with HIPAA, company policies, facility policies, and authorizations
- Manage patient health records and prepare new patient charts
- Assemble medical records accurately and completely in standard order
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Retrieve and transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
- Use company and facility software and document information across multiple platforms
- Answer inbound and outbound calls and assist patient walk-ins
- Handle administrative duties including faxes, mail, data entry, and pickup scheduling
- Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations and perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment regularly
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
- Must meet productivity expectations
- This job is not eligible for employment sponsorship
- Experience in a healthcare environment, production/metric-based work, in-person customer service, relationship-building with on-site clients, and process improvement are bonus points
