Job Description
Health Information Specialist managing HIPAA-compliant patient records for Datavant’s healthcare data platform. Processing requests, maintaining records, and supporting healthcare facilities remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Work Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
- Process legal certification and subpoena requests accurately in accordance with privacy and compliance requirements
- Receive and process patient health information requests according to company and facility policies
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
- Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
- Adhere to company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
- Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Assist with additional duties and responsibilities as required
- Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to prevent unauthorized disclosure
- Manage and safeguard patient health records and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Prepare new patient charts using paper and electronic health record sources
- Assemble medical records accurately and completely in standard order
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Retrieve and transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Assist with patient walk-ins
- Handle faxes, mail, data entry, and pickup scheduling as needed
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment regularly
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English

- Experience in a healthcare environment (bonus point)
- Previous production/metric-based work experience (bonus point)
- In-person customer service experience (bonus point)
