Job Description

Health Information Specialist processing HIPAA-compliant medical record requests for Datavant’s healthcare data platform. Managing patient records, calls, documentation, and release-of-information workflows remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Process release-of-information requests and patient medical record requests accurately and efficiently
  • Take inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys and provide medical record status
  • Maintain confidentiality, security, and HIPAA compliance for privileged patient information
  • Manage patient health records and ensure records are complete, accurate, and assembled in standard order
  • Prepare new patient charts using paper and electronic health record sources
  • Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
  • Document information across multiple platforms using two computer monitors
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
  • Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Assist with patient walk-ins, faxes, mail handling, data entry, and pickup scheduling as needed
  • Meet site-specific productivity expectations
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment regularly
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Detail and quality oriented regarding accurate and compliant medical records information
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Not eligible for employment sponsorship
  • May be required to complete post-offer health screenings and provide or receive vaccinations, subject to applicable exemptions
