Job Description
Health Information Specialist processing patient medical records and ROI requests for Datavant’s healthcare data platform. Ensuring HIPAA compliance, accurate records, and responsive customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Process requests for patient health information and medical record releases in accordance with company and facility policies
- Maintain confidentiality, security, and compliance with HIPAA and medical privacy regulations
- Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
- Inform the manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Manage patient health records and safeguard patient information
- Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties including faxes, mail, and data entry
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations
- Schedule pickups as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Detail and quality oriented regarding accurate and compliant medical records
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a healthcare environment (bonus)
- Previous production/metric-based work experience (bonus)
- In-person customer service experience (bonus)
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers (bonus)
- Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders (bonus)
