Job Description
Manager of coding services overseeing projects and staff effectiveness to meet client needs. Responsible for managing coding standards, resource allocation, and performance feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Manage client needs and expectations to ensure project scope, requirements and deliverables are developed appropriately with clients for coding service offerings
- Responsible for coordinating the allocation and assignment of resources to ensure client projects are delivered on time, on budget and that client expectations are exceeded
- Responsible for maintaining department coding standards, protocols, and guidelines
- Research regulatory guidelines
- Manage coding staff to ensure smooth operations of daily activities and that productivity and quality standards are being met
- Regularly monitor performance and provide feedback and coaching to direct reports
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in coding
- Minimum of 3 years mentoring staff
- Extensive auditing experience in multiple specialties
- Extensive knowledge of AMA, OIG, CMS and other national coding and compliance guidelines (billing, auditing, compliance and reimbursement for physician practices and facilities: CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10- CM, ICD-10-PCS)
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact effectively with physicians, management, and staff
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, and deadline driven attitude
- Critical thinking ability to determine best methods for completing tasks
- Strong leadership skills
- Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent customer service skills
- Certification requirements: RHIT or RHIA CPC, CIC, COC, CCS, CCS-P
