Job Description

Public affairs advisor handling complaints, media relations and reputation management for Desjardins, North America's largest cooperative financial group. Developing policies, recommendations and action plans for external audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the organization’s image and promote policies and programs for external audiences through public relations, media relations, lobbying and institutional affairs
  • Handle complaints to improve strained relationships with members/clients and protect the organization’s reputation and brand image
  • Advise and assist clients and partners as part of complaint resolution interventions
  • Support more experienced professionals and help institute tools for the line of work
  • Help develop recommendations, solutions and action plans based on organizational objectives and priorities
  • Conduct research and preliminary analysis and develop initial outlines of tools and processes
  • Handle information requests and complaints from members, clients and organizational sectors according to complaint handling policies and processes
  • Diagnose issues, challenges and needs to determine target outcomes
  • Help develop and implement objectives, solutions, policies, programs and action plans
  • Analyze data and issues, assist with studies, develop recommendations and prepare reports

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Advanced proficiency of English
  • Ability to handle public affairs, public relations, media relations, lobbying and institutional affairs
  • Analytical skills and extensive knowledge of the line of business
  • Interpersonal savvy and ability to interact with stakeholders across fields
