Job Description
Part-time remote bookkeeper managing BAS, full-cycle accounts and collections for an Australian safety-systems supplier. Preparing reconciliations, budgets and cash-flow forecasts aligned to AEST/AEDT.
Responsibilities:
- Raise and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
- Monitor debtors and proactively follow up overdue invoices by phone and email
- Confirm payment arrangements and escalate genuine disputes
- Allocate receipts and maintain customer account records
- Process supplier invoices and payments
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain the general ledger and bookkeeping records
- Prepare BAS and liaise with the external accountant/tax agent
- Apply correct GST treatment to transactions
- Maintain audit-ready financial records
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts
- Build and maintain budgets and report actual performance against budget
- Flag emerging cash flow and budget risks
- Own the daily finance function, including reconciliations, collections calls and reporting
- Communicate proactively with Brad and Matt about financial results
- Query unclear instructions or figures rather than guessing
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on, full-cycle bookkeeping/accounts experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and BAS preparation
- Demonstrated experience preparing BAS accurately and on time
- Proven experience proactively phoning clients to collect overdue payments
- Experience preparing cash flow forecasts and/or budgets and reporting actual performance against them
- Proficient in Xero or an equivalent cloud accounting platform such as MYOB
- Strong Excel skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet recurring compliance deadlines
- Daily self-discipline and ability to work without prompting or chasing
- Confident, professional communication and comfort discussing money with clients
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with limited supervision
- Availability for 20 hours per week aligned to AEST/AEDT business hours
