Job Description
Senior Engineer building AI-native, scalable products for Clair’s embedded-finance and real-time payroll platform. Owning features end-to-end across React, TypeScript, AWS, and transactional systems.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with design, product, and data teams to define technical strategy and evaluate product trade-offs
- Architect and deploy features using AI models and autonomous agentic workflows
- Integrate modern AI tools into team workflows and product architecture
- Design resilient systems considering latency, scale, downstream data consumers, and telemetry
- Ensure data pipelines receive clean, actionable events
- Own features end-to-end after launch
- Instrument key metrics and monitor performance dashboards
- Investigate post-release gaps and iterate based on user behavior and business outcomes
- Build products handling millions of transactions with sub-second performance
- Attend occasional company onsites and project-planning travel
Requirements:
- Deep experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade applications in cloud-native environments
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-assisted workflows for rapid, high-quality code generation
- Track record of prioritizing user impact and accountability to business metrics such as conversion, retention, and operational cost
- Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and transactional systems feeding analytical data pipelines
- Ability to work comfortably across the full stack and own a product or feature
- Expertise with React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and Expo (React Native)
- Experience with Laravel (PHP) is ideal but not necessary if there is demonstrable expertise building performant backend systems at scale
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with AWS
- Exceptional communication skills
- Occasional travel availability for company onsites and project planning, typically 2–4 trips per year
- Experience with financial technology platforms and payroll systems is a bonus
- Experience in lending, payments, BNPL, or ACH is highly valued
