Job Description
Finance and BizOps Manager managing accounting, compliance, tax, and cash flow for Community Phone, a SaaS company building phone services for communities. Owning cross-functional operations and equity administration.
Responsibilities:
- Manage financial controls and relationships with external accounting and compliance firms
- Collaborate with telecom tax compliance firms and internal legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance
- Review monthly expense classification and support timely month-end close
- Project-manage telecom and sales tax registrations, notices, and escalations
- Research tax registration requirements for new products and identify customer cost-saving opportunities
- Coordinate bill approvals and vendor invoice processing across departments
- Provide leadership with actionable financial and operational improvement insights
- Support strategic planning and negotiations to optimize COGS and achieve cash-flow neutrality
- Identify and address unnecessary refunds and other cash-flow issues
- Lead cross-functional financial, compliance, and operational initiatives
- Liaise and negotiate with government agencies, vendors, and other entities
- Own and manage the company cap table, stock issuance, and investor equity agreements
Requirements:
- Strong background in finance and accounting
- Experience working in an early-stage startup and handling stage-appropriate financial responsibilities
- Exceptional project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with external accounting, compliance, and legal partners
- Ability to manage complex financial processes, including tax compliance, expense classification, and vendor approvals
- Experience dealing with state and federal government, regulatory bodies, and supply chain vendors
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on efficiency and cost savings
- Self-motivated and adaptable; able to work independently as an individual contributor
- Experience in telecom or regulated industries is a plus
