Job Description
Senior Financial Accountant delivering audit-ready management accounts, reconciliations, compliance, and year-end reporting. Supporting a UK company remotely from South Africa with technical accounting expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Own balance sheet reconciliations with audit-ready documentation
- Manage VAT returns and statutory compliance with external advisers
- Lead year-end preparation and serve as the auditor’s main contact
- Review the work of junior finance staff with constructive rigour
- Improve accounting processes, controls and month-end cadence
- Provide technical accounting guidance to leadership
- Drive reconciliations and journals early in the month
- Review, document and improve work mid-month
- Deliver period-end reporting packs
- Resolve technical queries and support the wider team with complex entries
- Automate manual close processes
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ accounting experience, including management accounts and reconciliations
- Professional qualification or near-qualified status: SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, or CIMA
- Excellent written and spoken English for reporting and adviser liaison
- Stable fibre internet
- Backup power for load shedding
- Private home office
- Advanced proficiency with Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Meticulous, deadline-driven, and audit-minded documentation
