Job Description
Senior Platform Engineer enabling AWS applications for Peraton, a national security and enterprise IT provider. Building self-service infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and secure production support.
Responsibilities:
- Drive application support and enablement across a large AWS enterprise ecosystem
- Serve as the senior technical bridge between the platform organization and application teams
- Own production support for applications running on OpenShift (ROSA) and Amazon EKS across AWS Commercial and GovCloud
- Lead detection, triage, mitigation, restoration, and executive-level communication during high-impact incidents
- Own customer issues end to end and drive them to resolution
- Conduct blameless root-cause analyses and facilitate multi-stakeholder root-cause sessions
- Identify recurring application and platform issues and eliminate them through engineering
- Build reusable Terraform modules and GitLab project and pipeline templates for self-service provisioning
- Operate self-service onboarding workflows covering repository creation, CI/CD wiring, quota and RBAC assignment, and security-gate enrollment
- Publish golden-path pipeline templates and paved-road patterns with inherited security scanning, compliance gates, and observability hooks
- Maintain onboarding documentation and module catalogs while tracking onboarding lead time and self-service adoption
- Operate containerized workloads on OpenShift (ROSA) and Amazon EKS, including Spring Boot and other microservice deployments
- Engineer AWS environments including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, EBS, ELB/ALB/NLB, Route 53, CloudWatch, and OpenSearch
- Automate infrastructure with Terraform and configuration management and node hardening with Ansible/Ansible Tower
- Operate GitLab CI/CD pipelines and support migration of legacy Jenkins pipelines to GitLab
- Integrate SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets, and IaC scanning with policy-driven promotion gates
- Operate observability across Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, and OpenSearch
- Enforce STIG, CIS, and organizational compliance and support Aqua Security for image scanning, admission control, and runtime protection
- Support vulnerability management, ATO artifacts, audits, and continuous compliance reporting for FedRAMP and DoD-accredited boundaries
- Set engineering standards, review architecture, mentor engineers, and represent application support in cross-functional planning and change advisory forums
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust level clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years of experience
- 8+ years of hands-on AWS experience supporting platform engineering, application operations, networking, and security across AWS Commercial and GovCloud
- Strong experience with EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, EBS, ELB/ALB/NLB, Route 53, CloudWatch, and OpenSearch
- Observability experience with Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, and/or OpenSearch
- Experience with Terraform and Ansible/Ansible Tower for infrastructure-as-code and configuration management
- Hands-on experience leading production application support, including incident command, RCA facilitation, and driving corrective actions to closure
- Experience building self-service developer onboarding or platform-as-a-product capabilities using Terraform and GitLab
- Real-world experience establishing and maturing CI/CD toward progressive delivery
- Proven track record in senior technical or advisory roles, driving strategic change and digital adoption across business units
- Leadership presence and communication skills to work with customers at all levels and manage communication during critical incidents
- Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
- Preferred: AWS Certified Security - Specialty
- Preferred: Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
- Preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Preferred: HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
- Preferred: Experience obtaining or maintaining an ATO in a FedRAMP High environment
