Job Description

Specialty Representative selling AbbVie GI care medicines across Trenton-area healthcare accounts. Managing territory strategy, customer relationships, sales performance, and clinical market intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, concerns, and misunderstandings and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts, speakers, and advocates
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Travel approximately 10% of the time across the assigned territory

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when using experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory and attend overnight training events and sales meetings
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Ability to satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements, including possible background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
  • Ability to live within a reasonable distance from Trenton, New Jersey
  • Ability to identify customer styles and adapt selling approaches
  • Ability to develop sales strategies and leverage market findings
