Job Description

Entry-level estimator supporting quantity takeoffs and bid packages for Core & Main, a distributor of water, wastewater, drainage, and fire protection products. Collaborating with Pre-Bid, sales, and estimating teams while developing plan-reading and construction estimating skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing construction plans and specifications to identify basic material requirements
  • Perform entry-level quantity takeoffs with supervision and guidance
  • Identify standard materials and components needed for infrastructure systems
  • Support preparation of scopes and basic bid packages
  • Work with the Pre-Bid team to confirm scope details and gather required information
  • Communicate with internal team members to clarify basic project elements
  • Participate in training on takeoff software, product knowledge, and plan reading
  • Work with higher-level estimators to learn best practices, workflows, and company procedures
  • Accept feedback and coaching to improve accuracy and efficiency

Requirements:

  • Prior experience specific to bid preparation, sales, or construction in the water/wastewater industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred
  • Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to perform accurate takeoffs from plan sets
  • Experience engaging with contractors or vendors preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in construction, engineering, or related fields
  • Exposure to reading blueprints or construction documents preferred
  • Prior internship, training, or coursework in construction or engineering is a plus
  • Associate degree or technical certificate preferred
  • Coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fields beneficial
  • Equivalent experience considered
