Job Description

ADMS Implementation Engineer integrating network-modeling software for GE Vernova electrical-grid projects. Supporting GIS, SCADA, DMS, OMS, testing, and customer deployments across Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Have end-to-end responsibility for the Software System Integration part of large and complex IT projects associated with management of electrical grid Transmission, Distribution and Market systems.
  • Build and maintain the ADMS network model from customer GIS and asset data; run initial and incremental model imports using ADMS model build tools.
  • Validate network connectivity, topology, phasing and electrical parameters; identify and resolve data-quality issues with customer GIS and network teams and track them to closure.
  • Map SCADA/RTU points to model objects; build and maintain one-line, schematic and geographic displays.
  • Prepare and validate application data for DMS functions (load flow, FLISR, Volt/VAR optimization) and OMS functions (customer-to-transformer mapping, crews and devices).
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), cutover and go-live, and post-go-live model maintenance.
  • Train customer modeling staff to sustain the model after handover.
  • Own assigned technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle and collaborate with regional ADMS experts, project management and customers.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of ADMS network modeling and related applications and deliver against established practices.
  • Propose solutions outside set parameters with guidance and use technical and analytical skills to solve straightforward tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Automation and Control, Industrial Computing, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in distribution network modeling, GIS, SCADA/ADMS/DMS, network planning tools, or related utility software with an African customer
  • Solid understanding of distribution network topology and equipment (substations, feeders, switching devices, transformers, protection devices) and of power system fundamentals (load flow, phasing).
  • Hands-on experience with GIS tools and data (ESRI ArcGIS, Smallworld or QGIS; CIM/XML, shapefiles) and comfort with SQL, Excel or scripting for data transformation and validation.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience in software implementation, system integration, or digital services for utility or industrial customers.
  • Python or SQL scripting for data processing and automation.
  • Strong attention to detail and a data-quality mindset; ability to work methodically through large datasets.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and regions.
  • Ability to understand and improve complex processes in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Experience with distribution utilities in Africa is a plus.
  • Willing to travel to customer sites across Africa for training and collaboration with regional teams
