Job Description
Medtronic Area Sales Manager selling Advanced Energy medical technologies across Fargo and Northern Minnesota. Building accounts, conducting clinical education, and achieving territory revenue targets.
Responsibilities:
- Create an effective sales presence throughout the assigned Fargo/Northern Minnesota territory
- Learn and present the Advanced Energy product line and its applications
- Follow up on leads using a multi-prong contact approach
- Achieve sales targets and quotas and grow overall business
- Open new accounts, maintain existing business, and secure stocking orders
- Identify, prioritize, profile, and develop plans for key accounts
- Review territory sales plans, identify gaps, and develop programs to increase market share
- Provide rolling forecasts, expense reports, business objectives, account plans, and team updates
- Build relationships with clinical and administrative personnel in key accounts
- Arrange educational in-services and technical symposiums
- Coordinate with marketing, engineering, clinical, education, and management teams
- Introduce executive management to major accounts when appropriate
- Execute an Internet-centered marketing strategy for demand generation and education
- Serve as a resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events
- Perform all activities in compliance with the Quality System and environmental, health, and safety requirements
- Report to the District Sales Manager with no direct reports
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant experience, or Associate’s Degree and 4+ years, or Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years
- Relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical devices, medtech, healthcare, or life sciences
- Direct strategic sales experience preferred
- Experience driving medical education preferred
- Familiarity with general surgery preferred
- Exposure to selling medical devices to surgeons using a concept-selling process preferred
- Experience building and managing sales, launching marketing programs, managing costs, budgeting, forecasting, improving margins, and increasing revenue preferred
- Hospital budgeting and economic understanding preferred
- Ability to work in an operating room setting
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to present to individuals and large or small groups
- Ability to travel up to 75%
- Ability to work with healthcare universal precautions and minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation
- Ability to serve as the primary resource for clinical events, including occasional weekends, evenings, nights, and overnight travel
- Ability to work autonomously with little direction outside clinical events
- Ability to attend meetings and training as requested
- Ability to wear a 7–9 lb protective lead apron for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8+ hours per day
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and balance frequently
- Must have a valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance policy
- Must be able to drive approximately 50% of the time within the assigned territory
- Unrestricted U.S. work authorization required at hire and throughout employment
- Foreign baccalaureate degrees must satisfy 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)
