Job Description
Area Sales Manager leading Georgia-Pacific’s Northern California agricultural packaging sales team. Developing sales strategies, customer partnerships, and profitable growth across the integrated box business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Northern California Agriculture Product Segment and support the integrated box business
- Develop and execute sales strategies
- Lead, recruit, retain, mentor, and develop the commercial sales team
- Build partnerships between sales and operations
- Collaborate with Business Analytics, Revenue Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Salesforce Effectiveness, and S&OP
- Use Northern California agriculture market knowledge to support the sales team and customers
- Improve profit margins and identify opportunities to innovate and drive profitability
- Develop strategic road maps and assess impact on the P&L
- Create market sales and pricing strategies
- Build relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Create customer value by adopting and utilizing the sales training process
- Hold the sales team accountable for maintaining a regional sales pipeline
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, safety standards, and site practices
- Use Microsoft 365 applications and Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of outside B2B sales experience in packaging, corrugated, or a related field
- Experience mentoring or leading a sales team and motivating them to achieve sales targets
- Experience developing and implementing sales strategies and plans
- Business and financial acumen, particularly in analysis, pricing, forecasting, market trends, and budgeting
- Experience in corrugated packaging sales in agriculture or produce markets in California preferred
- Knowledge of the packaging sector, manufacturing processes, and design preferred
- Proven experience as a sales manager or in a similar role preferred
- Experience with P&L analysis preferred
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred, with preference for business, marketing, finance, management, or a related field
- Completion of a formal sales training program or demonstrated experience leading teams through a successful sales process preferred
- Ability to travel up to 40%
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and Microsoft Dynamics CRM
- Must comply with applicable governmental regulations, GP safety standards, and site practices
