Job Description

Cardiovascular Key Account Manager driving Amgen product access and utilization across New York health systems. Building clinical, pharmacy, payer, and hospital decision-maker relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and diagnose the current business environment in assigned accounts in relation to Amgen Cardiovascular products
  • Plan and execute actions for success in assigned accounts
  • Work internally through the matrix team and externally with customers to develop strong relationships
  • Serve as strategic lead for assigned key accounts
  • Execute compliant, innovative strategies to engage priority providers
  • Ensure institutional availability across inpatient and ambulatory care settings
  • Lead implementation initiatives enabling sustainable institution/system utilization
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans aligned to cardiovascular business unit strategy
  • Collaborate with field teams and aligned medical science liaisons
  • Meet with opinion leaders and decision-makers in Cardiology, Lipidology, Pharmacy, and P&T Committees
  • Present MAC-approved data/messages in compliance with governing policies
  • Drive appropriate utilization of approved cardiovascular products
  • Coordinate pull-through and access initiatives with sales colleagues and field teams
  • Monitor account performance, Amgen Cardiovascular business performance, and market dynamics
  • Identify barriers and coordinate pull-through initiatives across Sales Representatives, District Sales Managers, Regional Sales Directors, and Access Specialists
  • Coordinate Amgen home office engagement, approved programs, displays, and hospital initiatives
  • Build professional relationships with hospital pharmacy, clinical, quality, and finance decision-makers
  • Coordinate with Access Specialists to support portfolio access
  • Provide field intelligence, insights, and recommendations to Business Analytics, Brand, and Market Access teams

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience, or Master’s degree and 4 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience
  • 3+ years of account management and/or public payor experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MBA, PharmD, etc.) and 7+ years of healthcare sales and/or marketing experience or related experience in buying processes and decision making
  • Clinic, hospital, dyslipidemia, heart failure, access environment, applicable competitors, and industry experience preferred
  • Cardiology experience, including dyslipidemia, heart failure and acute coronary syndromes, highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of the current environment and trends in community cardiology practices
  • Understanding of internal and external dynamics in dyslipidemia and heart failure
  • Knowledge of hospital committee structure, P&T process, treatment and discharge protocols, DRG and hospital reimbursement process
  • Functional knowledge of Medicare and Government agencies
  • Knowledge of payor systems
  • Knowledge of CMS policies and processes
  • Documented ability to work with sales force to resolve payor-related issues
  • Leadership ability with a focus on influence, impact and leading without authority
  • Ability to identify key staff and departments influencing biopharmaceutical product utilization
  • Ability to identify and procure appropriate Amgen resources
  • Ability to analyze clinic economics/financial performance and varying data sources
  • Excellent networking, influencing, negotiation, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple competing priorities
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
