Job Description

Collections Specialist responsible for contacting customers regarding payments. Part of a team ensuring customer satisfaction in the solar industry with a focus on problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Contact customers with outstanding balances and work with them to remit payment
  • Process customer payments and investigate collections issues
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts ensuring timely recovery of outstanding balances
  • Leverage negotiation and persuasion skills for payment commitments
  • De-escalate challenging situations using active listening and problem-solving
  • Utilize multiple systems (Salesforce, Zuora, Internal Portal) to identify and resolve issues
  • Document and track collections processes and activities accurately
  • Enhance customer retention by explaining community solar benefits
  • Perform skip tracing to locate hard-to-reach customers
  • Deliver empathetic, solution-driven interactions prioritizing customer experience
  • Collaborate within the team and share best practices
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
  • Communicate effectively with other departments for case management
  • Meet departmental KPIs, including dollars collected and call volumes
  • Manage multiple daily tasks such as calls, inquiries, and Salesforce cases
  • Clearly explain community solar benefits to customers

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience, in a collection role ideally in a solar industry
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures.
  • Experience with skip tracing tools and investigative techniques to contact customers.
  • Passion for delivering excellent customer service and retention strategies.
  • Proficient in Excel, typing, and computer navigation skills.
  • Salesforce or similar CRM system experience required.
  • You are self-motivated, self-starting, and self-assured!
  • Attention to detail in client-facing communication.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Comfortable in working in a dynamic and growing environment.
  • Prior customer service or call center experience required
  • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience
  • Salesforce or similar CRM system experience required
  • Familiarity with Zuora or similar billing systems
