Job Description
Manufacturing technology analyst guiding Gartner clients on MES, AI, and smart factory strategy. Producing research, vendor insights, and thought leadership for operations executives.
Responsibilities:
- Advise business and technology clients on market landscapes, vendor selection, implementation, and software proposals
- Research, write, and advise on digital transformation and evolving manufacturing solutions
- Research emerging technologies, ecosystems, architectures, and business models
- Create must-have research content, including Magic Quadrants, Market Guides, Hype Cycles, and Toolkits
- Develop forward-looking research and thought leadership to accelerate client decision-making
- Diagnose client challenges and reframe strategies to unlock progress
- Synthesize market trends, emerging technologies, and independent insights into clear research positions
- Provide actionable advice through virtual and face-to-face client and prospect interactions
- Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, conferences, and client briefings
- Support Research and Sales through content development and client engagement
- Conduct timely, high-quality research peer reviews
- Represent Gartner research, methodology, and strategy as an industry expert
- Participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions
- Identify research process improvements and develop new processes
- Mentor and coach junior team members
- Drive ongoing client engagement with Gartner research and advisory interactions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
- 10+ years of relevant field or industry experience
- Significant experience developing, managing, implementing and/or using manufacturing operations technologies
- Robust understanding of cross-industry manufacturing processes, especially manufacturing operations management, manufacturing execution systems and IT/OT integration
- In-depth MES experience
- Experience with at least two to three of: Manufacturing Operations, Production Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Excellence / Continuous Improvement, Production automation, Production Logistics
- Executive presence and ability to establish credibility with executives and stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent research, writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling insights
- Strong analytical skills, including synthesizing data, applying frameworks, and defending conclusions
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within the subject area
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams in a multicultural global team
- Learning agility and ability to navigate highly matrixed environments
- Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% where applicable
