Job Description
Industrial design leader founding True Anomaly’s hardware design function. Shaping spacecraft and interceptor design language while building and leading the design team.
Responsibilities:
- Found the industrial product design function and build the team around it
- Establish industrial design at True Anomaly, including the function, standards, and relationship with hardware engineering
- Own the design language of hardware products through personal work and the design team
- Champion design across the company with executive and engineering teams
- Hire and lead a high-performing team of industrial and product designers
- Visualize visually stunning new concepts that start conversations and challenge the art of the possible
- Bring design into engineering and architecture decisions early
- Work with product engineering leadership to influence and build great design into hardware from the beginning
- Report directly to the Creative Director
- Take ownership of design programs from concept through final execution
- Work hands-on and move quickly while building the team
Requirements:
- Portfolio of hardware you led or shaped, clearly explaining what you decided and why
- Experience leading designers, from hiring to mentoring
- Fluency with engineering constraints, including structural and thermal problems
- Background in consumer, automotive, aerospace, robotics, medical, or industrial equipment
- Active security clearance is a bonus, not a requirement
- Candidates must be located near Long Beach, CA or Denver, CO, or be eligible for remote work within the United States
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations
