Job Description

Director leading regional new-business growth for Sysco, a global foodservice distributor. Managing Local New Business Developers, strategic sales planning, analytics, contracts, coaching, and customer acquisition.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Local New Business Developers for a specific region
  • Drive profitable new customer growth by defining long-term strategic goals
  • Identify business opportunities using advanced analytics
  • Negotiate local contracts to secure new business
  • Recruit and allocate Local New Business Developer headcount
  • Maintain accuracy in the Local New Business Developer pipeline and strategic planning
  • Establish strategy for profitable new customer growth with sales leadership guidance
  • Define long-term strategic new business development goals and strategy with regional and business leadership
  • Prioritize regional business opportunities and assign resources appropriately
  • Maintain team focus on quarterly and annual priorities
  • Lead monthly Local New Business Development meetings and ensure action items are completed
  • Coach Local New Business Developers and manage their performance and routines
  • Design and implement formal training programs focused on profitable modeling of new customers and strengthening customer relationships
  • Establish ongoing training and development through sales meetings, promotions, food shows, and customer events
  • Facilitate coaching for prospect visits and cold calls
  • Evaluate and coach Local New Business Developers with business resources and sales leadership
  • Coordinate and execute prospect visits and tours of Sysco facilities
  • Ensure appropriate resources are included in prospect proposals

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant sales experience
  • Experience working within a retail, wholesale, or distribution environment
  • Proven track record of growing sales directly or through others
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal skills and ability to speak effectively in front of large groups
  • Problem resolution expertise
  • Ability to adapt to different markets and philosophies
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up
  • Purchasing/Merchandising experience preferred
  • 5+ years of foodservice sales experience preferred
  • BS or BA degree in Business, Marketing, Agriculture/Animal Science, or related studies preferred
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
