Job Description

Director of Software Portfolio Strategy at Daktronics shaping software portfolio and platform strategies. Leading cross-functional teams to drive growth and innovation in software offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape the future of software business and lead platform strategy across software, control systems, and SaaS offerings.
  • Drive portfolio direction, roadmaps, and investment priorities to accelerate growth and build scalable platforms.
  • Set the software portfolio vision and roadmap.
  • Prioritize products, platforms, and partnerships that drive growth.
  • Define cloud platform strategy and shared services for scalable growth.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture on hybrid solutions.
  • Turn customer and market insight into strategy, shaping roadmap decisions.
  • Influence SaaS packaging, pricing, and growth strategy.
  • Lead portfolio governance and investment prioritization.
  • Guide investment decisions across the portfolio lifecycle.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across key teams to shape executive decisions on strategy and priorities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Business.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in software strategy or portfolio leadership.
  • Strong experience with multi-product software portfolios and platform-based architectures.
  • Proven understanding of: SaaS and cloud transformation.
  • Platform strategy and shared service models.
  • Product vs platform tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align across Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable priorities.
  • Experience in hybrid cloud + edge environments (e.g., IoT, industrial systems, distributed control environments) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with: Data platforms, telemetry systems, or device ecosystems.
  • Large installed hardware/software customer bases.
  • Experience modernizing legacy software portfolios into unified platforms.
  • Exposure to SaaS transitions or recurring revenue business models.
