Job Description

Field Sales Manager selling PLP communications products to Northern Texas distributors, contractors, engineers, and end users. Managing territory pipelines, demonstrations, representatives, forecasts, and customer relationships with 75% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell the organization's products/services to distributors, contractors, engineers, and end users in Northern Texas by contacting established customers and developing new prospects
  • Identify new accounts in the assigned territory
  • Determine buying influences within projects and coordinate effective sales calls
  • Maintain a 6–12 month pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Coordinate PLP product field trials with customers and appropriate PLP resources
  • Coordinate product demonstrations throughout the territory
  • Assist in managing and developing Manufacturers’ Representatives
  • Assist in managing and developing Distributors/Wholesalers
  • Investigate new product opportunities with customers
  • Cooperate with PLP Product Management and R&E to investigate market or product opportunities and issues
  • Monitor territory expenses and PLP product sample requests
  • Provide sales forecasts at least annually or more often upon request
  • Understand customer product applications and relevant markets, and compete effectively through technical product differentiation
  • Develop and implement an annual sales plan using a team-concept approach
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding PLP products or services
  • Present marketing messaging through Teams, webinars, or in-person events
  • Assemble PLP products in office, training-room, or outdoor settings to demonstrate aerial or underground installations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field of study and/or experience
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in outside sales, demonstrating progression in responsibility and sales success
  • Ideally located in the Dallas Fort Worth area or Northern Texas
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and comply with PLP’s vehicle allowance program
  • Ability to manage manufacturer representatives
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to build and develop strategic business relationships
  • Understanding of the dynamics of channels involved in selling to the Broadband Retail channel
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Maintain a home office
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 75% of the time
