Job Description
Field Service Technician troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning Wabtec rail equipment. Training customers and traveling extensively to Canadian and international sites.
Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting and customer training on new and existing machines
- Put new machines into service, including testing and demonstrating equipment at customer sites
- Repair existing equipment at customer sites
- Troubleshoot machines and perform service, maintenance, and repairs
- Travel 70–80% or 80+% to Canadian and foreign customers' locations
- Recommend repair parts and product improvements to customers
- Advise and train customers on proper maintenance and operation of Nordco equipment
- Prepare weekly travel expense records and field reports
- Work with engineering and/or production to solve problems with new machines
- Contribute to continuous improvement of equipment and processes
- Work independently and build effective rapport with customers
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial or mobile heavy equipment mechanic
- Extensive knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to interpret written, oral, or diagram instructions
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables
- Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and professional journals
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Ability to work with diverse personalities and build strong customer relationships
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport
- French speaking preferred
- PLC and/or CanBus systems troubleshooting training strongly preferred
- Associate's Degree a plus
- Previous railroad experience a plus
